NEWS Kid Quilters win ARK Littlest Heroes Contest
White House, TN - Six members of the Temple Baptist Church Girls in Action group were named winners in the ARK Insurance Littlest Heroes contest last month. The girls worked together to sew quilt tops, then donated the tops to Sewn-N-Love, an organization that provides quilts to people battling cancer. Kady Anderson, Skyler Burris, Taylor Hipes, Brianna Kizer, Leah Pendley, and Olivia Teasley each received a certificate for winning the award, but continued to demonstrate their spirit of giving with the rest of the prizes. They donated the gift bags, cards, and $100 Toys-R-Us card provided as prizes to a local needy family, and plan to use the $100 Wal-Mart card to buy more quilting supplies. "These girls have just stolen my heart," said contest organizer Patricia Potts. "They also delivered meals to shut-ins at Thanksgiving." Potts went on to thank the local businesses who participated in the event, including Noble Trophy & Award, White House Hobbies, McDonalds, Wendy's, Al's Food Valu, and Kroger.
